5 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE SAYING “I LOVE YOU”

I love you’ are three powerful words that come with lots of responsibilities — emotional responsibilities especially. But sometimes, people just say those words without fully understanding what they are doing.

There are so many things to consider before telling someone you love them:

  1. ARE YOU SURE YOU LOVE THAT PERSON?

It’s not enough to tell someone how much you love them. Love comes with responsibilities, it comes with sacrifice; it’s wrong to feel infatuated, and call it love then leaving the other partner emotionally stranded after a while. People claim to love someone but are only infatuated, as they fall out of love once they get that person’s heart and attention.

  1. WHAT’S THE LEVEL OF INTIMACY?

Loving someone isn’t the only thing to consider — it goes beyond that. You can’t walk up to someone and tell them how much you love them just because you love them. No! There has to be a level of relationship; there ought to be a bit of intimacy. Create that level of intimacy first before you strike those words.

  1. IS IT THE RIGHT TIME?

Even if you’ve created that level of relationship or intimacy, you ought to consider the timing. Clearly, it shouldn’t be done when that person is sad or in a bad mood — you would pass a message of being stupid. Create a scene that would match the weight of the words you want to utter, it would make it believable, rather than saying it loosely.

  1. YOU MUST BE WILLING TO ACCEPT WHAT COMES NEXT

The harsh reality is that the person might feel same about you or not. You must be willing to accept what the person has to say, whether it’s positive or negative.

However, if you get a negative response and still feel you have a chance at winning that person’s heart, you ought to bid your time again and give it a go. Though, it’s important that you shouldn’t look too desperate.

  1. WOULD YOU SHOW IT?

Even though love ought to be said, but it’s more of an action word. Saying you love someone is just a phrase that actually means nothing if you don’t show it. It’s three words, but it comes with a lot of weight and responsibilities, and like I mentioned in the first tip, make sure you love that person, because it’s easier when you truly love someone.

“I love you” aren’t just words you should utter in a hurry, these five things discussed above ought to be put into consideration.
