MULLI’s ESTATE SET ABLAZE BY ANGRY MOB IN PHALOMBE

Reports reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that angry mob on Wednesday set ablaze Leston Mulli’s Thuchira Estate after his security officer shot and injured a 32-year-old man.

Phalombe Police Station Officer, Sikadadze Mkweche confirmed of the development in an interview with Daily Times of October 8, 2015.

According to Mkweche, the victim identified as Henry Maganga from Phunduma Village mate his fate as he together with his friends were burning charcoal within the estate’s premises.

“The development angered the villagers who mobilized themselves and invaded the farm by setting it on fire. The gang also attacked and killed the guard,” he said.

He said the fire destroyed the farm’s shelters, stocks of pigeon peas among others.

He further said the situation of the victim is stable and is responding to treatment at Migowi Health Centre.

Mkweche said Police have arrested the farm’s chief security adviser Mc Willardson Msusa aged 41.

Meanwhile there was no immediate comment from Mulli, who manages Mulli Brothers Holdings Limited (MBL) on the matter.
