LIKOMA SECONDARY SCHOOL CLOSED INDEFINITELY

Likoma Secondary School in the Northern Region has been closed indefinitely following a food crisis that has hit the school.

The development comes barely two weeks after the closure of Euthini Secondary School in the same region over water crisis.

School Management Committee Chairperson Auckland Ngaunje confirmed of the development in an interview with one of the privately owned radio [Zodiak Broadcasting Station] on Monday.

Ngaunje said the decision was arrived at during a recent meeting held with the school administration after noting that the problem was going out of hand.

He attributed the challenge to low funding from government and lack of maize in ADMARC, saying the school was forced to by maize from vendors at an exorbitant price.

“This led to exhaustion of funds before time,” Ngaunje told the radio.

Meanwhile students have expressed worry over the development.
