PP SQUABBLES: GOVERNORS CHALLENGE ULADI’s DECISION TO FIRE MZOMERA NGWIRA

Opposition People’s Party (PP) governors from Northern region and Central region have challenged the decision taken by its Vice President Uladi Mussa to fire provincial chair for the North Christopher Mzomera Ngwira.

Ngwira who made headlines when he replaced the Party founder, Dr. Joyce Banda with former Vice President Khumbo Hastings Kachale was fired from the party last week for bringing confusion in the Party.

PP Spokesperson Ken Msonda confirmed of the development in an interview with the press last week, saying Ngwira is becoming a problem to the Party.

Trashing the Mussa’s decision, over the 30 governors from North and Central this morning stormed one of the privately owned radios, saying Ngwira is still PP governor for the North.

Governor for Kasungu Central Mr Ndaipa accused Mussa of firing people without consultation and he demanded for his immediate resignation.

“We have no leadership in the party. How can Honourable Uladi Mussa remove people from their positions willy nilly? Honourable Ngwira is an elected leader unlike Honourable Mussa who was just appointed. Honourable Mussa is the one to go not Honourable Ngwira,” he said.

Banda left the country just after the May 20, 2014 tripartite election which saw the then opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regime under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika emerging victorious.

Her trip to United States of America attracted mixed reactions from the general public with others accusing her of running away from the ongoing investigations to the looting of public funds dubbed cashgate, the claims she denied.

Meanwhile it is not known as to when Banda will return home from self-imposed exile.
