Information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that a new political party called Union Party (UP) has been formed in the Northern Region.
The Party is led by former Member of Parliament for Mzimba South constituency currently based in in Canada Paul Sydney Shawa.
According to inside sources, the fired People’s Party (PP) provincial chair for the north Christopher Mzomera Ngwira is set to join the Party.
Ngwira was fired from PP for allegedly sponsoring thugs to disrupt the meeting organized by Party’s Interim Leader Uladi Mussa.
Paul Shawa remains its interim president and Prof. Newton Kalengamaliro is deputy president.
Other key members include Cassamajor Mulonyeni as general secretary, organizing secretary Thandiwe Ganda, foreign secretary Jonathan Kudambwe and Farm transformation secretary Dr Francis Nindi .
