ACB through with investigations on two deputy speakers

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has revealed that investigations on First Deputy Speaker Esther Mcheka-Chilenje and Second Deputy Speaker Clement Chiwaya on allegations that the duped government by obtaining houses allowances are over.

The two deputy speakers are reported to have been obtaining house allowances on the pretense that they were staying in rented house while in actual fact they were staying in their own houses.

Speaking in an interview with the press, ACB deputy director Reneck Matemba confirmed of the development.

“We have concluded the report and we have made recommendations. The report will be released to the public in the coming days or weeks but very soon,” said Matemba.

Matemba also disclosed that Speaker of the National Assembly Richard Msowoya was interrogated on the matter.

According to Matemba, Msowoya was interrogated due to the fact that he is the chairperson of Parliamentary Service Commission which looks on the welfare of MPs in the house.

Chiwaya and Chilenje obtained an injunction from the High Court to stop Rumphi East MP Kamlepo Kalua from moving a motion in parliament to have the two suspended.
