Bushiri donates 1000 blankets, TV screen to Maula Prison

Founder of Enlightened Christian Gathering Church (ECG) Prophet Shepherd Bushiri on Wednesday donated 1 000 blankets and a TV screen to Maula Maximum Security Prison.

The donation was presented by Bushiri’s personal Assistant who represented him at the ceremony, Lawrence Shaba.

Shaba said apart from helping people spiritually, the cleric, has an obligation to help people, including those in reformatory centres with their physical needs.

Prison officials hailed Bushiri’s donation, saying the donation has come at the right time.

Last year, Bushiri suspended his charity work in Malawi for what he described as political reasons, saying some Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) bigwigs were against it.

He cited the Karonga incident where some DPP officials were snatching bags of Maize from beneficiaries and a threat issued to some chiefs.
