DPP denies planning to fire Bon Kalindo over naked demonstrations against albino killings

The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has quashed rumours hovering on the social media that it is planning to fire its Mulanje South lawmaker Bon Kalindo for going to the street against albino killings in the country, saying the reports are untrue.

Kalindo who is also DPP Deputy Publicity Secretary on Thursday last week organized peaceful semi-naked demonstrations against albino killings to force the government to effect death sentence on those found guilty of killing people with albinisms.

The demonstrations did not please the Party up to the extent that Kalindo was chased away from the rally the Party organized in Mulanje Limbuli where President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika was in attendance.

The DPP youths cadets told him openly that his not welcome at the Party and rumours were all over on the social media that the Party is strategizing on firing him from the Party, saying he is bring confusion.

Speaking in an interview with FaceofMalawi, DPP Spokesperson Francis Kasaila trashed the claims, saying those are just rumours.

Kasaila said there is no any disagreement between Kalindo and some Party officials.

He also quashed reports that Kalindo is living in fear as some DPP officials have hired thugs to terminate the lawmaker’s life.

Earlier in the week, Kalindo told the press that he does not regret for organizing the protest against albino killings in the country and that he will not apologise to the party.

He said will continue pressing for the right of poor and albino persons in the country.
