Kalindo criticizes govt on passed land bill: says DPP has handed the country to dogs

Mulanje South Member of Parliament Bon Kalindo has criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for abruptly passing the Land bill without listening to the concerns raised by opposition MPs.

Kalindo said this on Wednesday in the National Assembly when he was contributing to Land Survey Bill tabled in the house by Minister of Land and Housing Atupele Muluzi.

In his contribution, Kalindo said people of Mulanje South are concerned with how MPs from government side handled the land bill which is there to snatch land from poor people, saying that is not acceptable.

Kalindo said bill could have been amended in a way that the land which is being owned by foreigners is taken away from them and given to Malawians.
He added that the DPP regime has sold the country to the dogs referring to white people.

Kalindo’s claim did not please Muluzi who stood on point of order asking the Speaker Richard Msowoya to rule Kalindo out of order for debating on a bill which has been already passed in the house.

But Msowoya defended Kalindo, saying the lawmaker was raising his concern on the bill and there is nothing wrong.

Msowoya further asked Kalindo to substitute the word dog with a better one which he did.
