Man arrested for chopping off hand of albino woman in Chitipa

A man is in Police custody in Chitipa for allegedly having a hand in the gruesome attack of a 51 year old woman with albinism who had his hand chopped by unknown thugs.

Police in Chitipa have confirmed of the arrest in an interview with the press and identified the suspect as Joseph Ndimbwa.

Chitipa Police spokesperson Sergeant Gradwel Simwaka said the suspect is a neighbor of the victimized woman identified as Lucia Kainga.

According to the police, the suspect together with other Tanzanian nationals invaded the house of Kainga in the wee hours of Saturday and chopped off her right hand, in the process injuring her husband in the process.

The thugs who targeted Lucia Kainga’s head and her two hands, only managed to speed off with one hand.

The victim is currently receiving treatment at Mzuzu Central Hospital.

The victim and the husband come from Village Head man Mweneipenza 5, in the area of Senior Chief Kameme, which borders with Tanzania.

Recently Mulanje South Member of Parliament Bon Kalindo organized nude demonstrations in the capital Lilongwe over the sharp rise in albino killings in the country.

Kalindo wanted government to effect death sentence on perpetrators on albino killers, saying the act is in human.

But the demonstrations did not please the DPP government, saying Kalindo was doing that to tarnish the good emerge of the Party.

The Party went further to summon Kalindo to a disciplinary hearing where he was asked to appologise to the Party but he refused and later he resigned from his position as Deputy Spokesperson.
