Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on Thursday evening attended the Love Malawi Festival dinner at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) where he had a chance of meeting America singer Don Moen.
Moen, a singer-songwriter, pastor, and producer of Christian worship music arrived in the country on Thursday through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in the capital Lilongwe.
Writing on his official Facebook page, Chakwera expressed gratitude for meeting the American star.
“I am with my wife, Monica this evening at BICC, attending the Love Malawi Festival dinner.
“In the picture, we are with the world renowned gospel musician, Don Moen. What a great atmosphere in the presence of such celebrated personality,” wrote Chakwera.
Apart from Chakwera, Dedza MP Juliana Lunguzi also attended the event.
Moen is scheduled to perform on both Saturday and Sunday at the evangelist effort aimed at fostering unity, hope and love.
Speaking after landing at KIA, Moen told the press that he was happy to be in Malawi for the first time and he urged Malawians to patronize his show over the weekend in large numbers.
“Its my first time to be here but its very beautiful country,” he said.
“I usually don’t travel with my band. It costs a lot of money to bring a band. But I have come with full band which is a blessing to Malawi and I am looking forward to the event,” he said.
Love Malawi Festival is a historic event organised by the Evangelical Association of Malawi in partnership with renowned evangelist Andrew Palau and Luis Palau Association partner evangelists. The Festival kicked-off on 5th August in Ntcheu and Mzuzu.
