Kamlepo receiving death threats from DPP over 7 Ministers implicated in cashgate

Rumphi East Member of Parliament and opposition People’s Party (PP) Third Vice President for the North Kamlepo Kalua has said he is receiving death threats from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for pressuring President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to release the names of seven Cabinet Ministers implicated in the MK236 billion cashgate scandal.

The development comes barely a week after Kamlepo traded burbs with President Mutharika over the issue, giving one another 24-hours ultimatums.

The whole issue was started with President Mutharika in Salima last week asking, Kalua to walk in the corridors of the Kamuzu Palace within 24-hours to feed him with the said rotten Cabinet Ministers or shut up forever but Kalua blasted off the ultimatum.

Writing on his official facebook page, Kalua said he is being hunted by the ruling Party over the matter.

“Since my calls to have the corrupt ministers exposed..I have been receiving death threats and unnecessary threats from those in power. for those who listened to the rally the State President addressed in Thyolo..my name was all over in their mouths.

“Hon Patricia Kaliati says I should consult Jappie Mhango to give me immunity. .really? what type of a minister and member of parliament would disregard the constitution just to please the listening crowd and President? The minister of internal affairs cannot give me immunity because I was elected by the people and not appointed. go and read the constitution again madam Minister,” said Kamlepo.

He added: “Hon Charles Kamchacha said and I quote ” Tiauza a nyamata athu ma cadet athane naye Kamlepo” Fellow Malawians..what more evidence do you need that am under threat?”

Kalua added that he will not be intimidated by anyone even if it means sacrificing his own blood for the well-being few selfish people from the ruling Party.

Meanwhile Minister of Information Patricia Kaliati has branded Kalua as coward.
