Police in Kasungu have arrested a murder suspect, Kasiteni Mwale,36 who was on run after murdering his wife before hacking the deceased grandmother, Malita Kapatamoyo aged 68.
Mwale committed the offences during the night of 20-21 August, 2016.
Meanwhile, the grandmother who was battling for her life at Kamuzu Central Hospital after being referred from Ntchisi District Hospital, has died.
Mwale was arrested on Monday, 22 August, 2016 in Nkhotakota where he had fled after well wishers tipped the police.
The alleged rumour has it that Mwale killed his wife after she had rejected his demand of offering their child for rituals to get rich. After hacking his wife to death, Mwale also hacked the deceased grandmother in attempt to conceal evidence.
The deceased grandmother was referred to Kamuzu Central Hospital where she was admitted until on 22 August,2016 when she breathed her last.
Mwale is answering charges of Murder and will appear before court soon when investigations are completed.
Kasiteni Mwale comes from Shimwaza village,Traditional Authority Chilowamatambe in Kasungu district.
