MANEB speaks out on JCE, PSLCE exam rumours

The Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) has quashed rumours hovering on the social media that the body has released the 2016 Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) and Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) examinations.

Earlier this week, some people have been spreading rumours on the social media especially Facebook, saying MANEB has released the said exams, forcing parents and students to be seeking results from the body and other well-known media houses in the country.

Writing on its official Facebook page, MANEB Public Relations Officer Simeon Maganga squashed the rumours, saying the reports are untrue.

“We are getting a lot of questions basing on rumours flying around on social media and some ‘unprofessional’ media houses.

“Please ignore them all. We always announcements when we have them,” reads in part the statement.

According to the 2016/17 academic calendar released by the Ministry of Education Science and Technology, shows that students both from Secondary School and Primary will begin first term on September 5, 2016.

“The Primary, Secondary school and Teacher Training College academic year will comprise 43 weeks.

“As usual, schools and colleges will observe public holidays. In addition, secondary schools and colleges will have the traditional mid-term holiday between 27th February, 2017 to 3rd March, 2017. Similarly, primary schools will have a one-day casual holiday during the same week,” reads the statement in part.

“All educational institutions and the general public are reminded that the school calendar is harmonized for all educational institutions, both public and private, and at all levels, from primary schools to universities. No educational institution is, therefore, allowed to operate outside this academic calendar.”

Meanwhile it is not known as to when the exams will be released.
