Chilima shuns St. Mathews Catholic Church Golden Jubilee in Chikwawa

The country’s Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima on Saturday failed to attend St Mathews Catholic Golden Jubilee celebrations without giving any explanations.

According to a programme seen by FaceofMalawi reporter, Chilima was expected to be the guest of honour and was supposed to arrive at the venue at around 8:35am.

But church follows and other top officials including Bishop of Chikwawa Diocese his Lordship Peter Musikuwa were all surprised.

The development forced the Bishop to start the celebrations with a mass which started at around 9:30 am.

When contacted on the development, Spokesperson for the Office of the Vice President Pilirani Phiri said there was no any indication that Chilima was to attend the celebrations.

Phiri said Chilima was in Chiradzulu attending the 10 years anniversary of the Catholic University of Malawi (CUNIMA).

Meanwhile this is the second time Chilima has failed to attend the event of the Catholic in Chikwawa.
