Thugs beat Fisherman to death in Nkhatabay

A 39 years old man reported dead at Kalowa area in lake shore district of Nkhatabay after being beaten by unknown thugs.

According to Malawi Police spokesperson for the district, Ignatius Esau  has identified the deceased as Soya Mwale, a fisherman and he was found lying dead along M5 road on Monday morning with a deep cut on the left side of his head.

”in the first place, it was suspected that the deceased was involved in a road accident, but preliminary investigations show that Mwale was killed and was later dumped on the said road,” said Esau.

According to information sourced from cousin to the murdered person, says last Sunday, Mwale went out for a drinking spree at Kalowa together with his friends after receiving his wages.

It is reported that when he got drunk, he left his friends in the evening for his home, which is about two kilometres away from the drinking place.

Only to be found lying dead on the road the following day and medical examination has revealed that death was due excessive internal bleeding.

Soya Mwale hailed from Mpalauta village Traditional Authority Zilakoma in Nkhatabay district.
