Mutharika adamant on expenditures: To host Southern Region Blue Night Dinner and Dance at Sanjika Palace

Despite being criticized for spending huge sums of money on his official vehicle 2016 Toyota LEXUS LX 570 pegged at MK100 million, President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has once again ignored it and organized a lavishing Southern Region Blue Night Dinner and Dance at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre.

The Dinner and Dance which is scheduled for Friday evening, November 4 2016 comes barely hours after the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) effected new fuel pump prices which will see cost of commodities going up on the market.

The Diner and Dance also comes at a time when poor Malawians are pleading with government to consider adjusting downward the prices of Maize in ADMARC which has gone up with over 100 percent creating pressure.

The DPP blue night at Sanjika Palace comes at a time when Malawians are asking the President to explain to them the cost he anchored while at the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Speaking in a media briefing at Kamuzu Palace in the capital Lilongwe after the trip, Mutharika instead of explaining to Malawians the cost of his trip he went to town attacking media houses for publishing stories of his poor health.

According to inside sources, the Dinner and Dance will cost government over MK70 million which could have been used in repairing Dialysis machine at Kamuzu Central Hospital which is reported to have stopped functioning.

The money could have also been used in buying drugs in public hospitals in the country.

Meanwhile some Malawians have criticized President Mutharika for organizing the DPP blue night, saying the diner is ill-timed.

“This is what our so called president can afford, just waking up from his deep sleep and ordering that a bag of maize being raised to 12500, very shame, hw many of us will manage to attend that dinner at the palace? very shame despite having thousands of advisors,” said Grant Zibah.
