Chaponda, Muhara, Maganga sued for contempt of Court

Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that suspended Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development Dr. George Chaponda, Chief Secretary Lloyd Muhara and Principal Secretary of Agriculture Mrs Erica Maganga have been summoned to appear at Mzuzu High Court for contempt.

Chaponda left the country on Thursday last week for Germany for official duty as Minister of Agriculture defiling court order stopping him from serving as Cabinet Minister to pave way for smooth investigations in the Malawi Zambia maize deal.

The development angered some Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the country led by Charles Kajoloweka who threatened to drag him to court for not complying with the Court ruling on the matter.

Reports reaching FOM’s reporter indicates that the CSOs have now dragged Chaponda alongside Maganga and Muhara to court.

According to sourced information, Maganga and Muhara will face the law for facilitating a trip of Chaponda to Germany despite a contempt of court order.
