MCP MP Highton Jiya dead

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Member of Parliament for Lilongwe Msozi North Highton Jiya is reported dead.

Jiya died on Monday at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in the commercial capital Blantyre.

District Commissioner for Lilongwe Charles Makanga confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

“I have just received news of the death of honourable Jiya. I am yet to receive information surrounding his death and programme for his burial. His remains are still in Blantyre,” said Makanga.

Chairperson for the Social Welfare Committee of Parliament Alex Major also confirmed of Jiya’s death.

Major said Jiya died of Kidney failure.

Meanwhile burial details are sketchy at the moment.
