Mutharika hold talks with Tanzanian President John Magufuli

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Monday took advantage of the 28th African Union Summit to interact with Tanzanian counterpart President John Magufuli.

FaceofMalawi understand that the two leaders discussed a number of issues affecting the two nations including the Lake Malawi border.

The Lake border dispute started when it was revealed that the lake was containing oil.

Recent Tanzania government issued map of regions and districts indicates that the border runs down the middle of the lake.

The new map did not please the government of Malawi and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation Francis Kasaila to report the issue to AU.

“We have already reported them to the African Union and very soon we will be reporting them to Comesa and Sadc,” he said.

Meanwhile the two countries are yet to agree on the issue.
