Mutharika to receive Queen’s Baton Relay

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, will today, Thursday, 20th May 2017, grace the welcoming ceremony of the Queen’s Baton Relay at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe at 12:20hrs.

This is part of the Gold Coast, Australia, 2018 Commonwealth Games (#GC2018) ceremonies and it is expected that the Queen’s Baton will depart Malawi on 24th April 2017.

In a related development, the local Commonwealth Games Association has lined up a number of Queens Baton Relay (QBR) activities in Malawi.

To celebrate this development, the British High Commission has also organised a reception at the British High Commissioner’s residence on the evening of 20th April from 1800Hrs where personalities from different sporting disciplines, including those that will compete in next year’s games, will be in attendance.
