PAC skeptical about DPP’s cleanliness on Mulomole’s office invasion in Zomba

Unidentified people on Wednesday evening broke into offices of Public Affairs Committee (PAC) spokesperson Father Peter Mulomole at Zomba Diocese Research and Development and went away with 2.5 million in cash and computers.

The incident happened a day before PAC delivered a statement to journalists in Blantyre, where political and religious entity described Democratic progressive Party (DPP)’s leadership as having failed to govern the country.

Mulomole confirmed his office having been invaded, ironically said the thugs might not have linked to his activities with PAC.

“I don’t want to go such far but it’s true a group of 10 people came and tied the guard and demanded money and computers. I don’t keep my laptop in the office so it is safe. Let’s not say much now and wait for the police to do their job,” Mulomole

However, PAC Executive Director Robert Phiri sounded skeptical about government not to be involved as he recalled that PAC offices in Area 12 in Lilongwe were broken into in 2014  and he said that the PAC is not in any way intimidated by the incident in Zomba.

He added that PAC officials were supposed to have an audience with President Peter Mutharika after press briefing on Thursday at 2 pm at Sanjika Palace, but the meeting was cancelled by State House.

“We were told that the meeting has been cancelled and it is instead shifted to 27th April. We started seeking the meeting the President in March and the board has to sit down to determine whether we should still wait,” Phiri said.

It is tendency of DPP to act too violent in its dealings with critics.
