19 Year Old Malawian Commits Suicide A Day After Returning From South Africa

Mtambo village in Nkhata Bay district is in a sorrowful mood after a 19 year old boy identified as Aggrey Mhone died after hanging himself at Chisala area in the district.

According to News Watch Reviews, Aggrey went to South Africa in April 2017 to look for greener pastures and he came back home on May 31, 2017.

Nkhata Bay Police publicist Ignatius Esau confirmed to this publication that when he arrived home at Chisala, he only met his sister to whom he never narrated anything about his journey.

“Sadly, the next day he was found hanging dead in a tree near his home. His sister tried to persuade him to talk to her about his journey but he said nothing. Currently we don’t know what prompted him to commit suicide”, said Esau.

Postmortem indicated that Aggrey’s death was due to strangulation and he hailed from Mtambo village in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Timbiri in the district.

Meanwhile, Police in the district is urging people to give dialogue a chance when ever faced with different kinds of problems.
