Govt says Maize exportation to start after NFRA purchases enough Maize

Government through Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development has said that Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) and the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) will soon start purchasing maize from traders.

This has been disclosed in a press statement signed by Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, Mrs Erica Maganga.

“The Government wishes to announce that with immediate effect the Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) and the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) will purchase maize from all traders.

“It is further announced that maize exports will only be allowed after the NFRA has purchased enough maize to satisfy the Strategic Grain Reserve (SGR) requirement,” reads in part the statement.

Recently, there has been an outcry from Malawians on the ban effected by government regarding exportation of Maize to other countries.
