JB’s name missing on Interpol list

Former President Dr. Joyce Banda is not on the list of people hunted by the International police (Interpol), faceofmalawi can reveal.

On Monday this week, the Malawi Police Service (MPS) obtained warrant of arrest for former President on her involvement in the cashgate scandal which has seen over six people being jailed the latest being former Minister of Justice Raphael Kasambara SC.

In a statement made available to FOM’s reporter, National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera said the police have informed Interpol on the matter.

But according to online information, Banda is not among the wanted list of Interpol.

When asked by Daily Times reporter to comment on the matter, Kadadzera who sounded unmoved referred the reporter to Interpol.

Kadadzera maintained his earlier statement that the matter is currently in the hands of Interpol.

Meanwhile Banda has denied having a hand on the matter.
