NRB officer beats up UNDP official in Blantyre

National Registration Bureau (NRB) officer on Wednesday beat up UNDP official after a disagreement over the ongoing ID registration exercise at the headquarters in the commercial capital Blantyre, faceofmalawi can reveal.

According to information at hand, NRB officer whose contract has expired was not satisfied with what was written at the certificate given to him.

The certificate indicated that he did a training for four months before going in the actual field but in actual sense he did a training four one month.

As this was not enough, the officer is yet to receive the arrears dating back from June this year.

This prompted the officer to confront UNDP official and he ended beating him.

The officer also refused to hand over NRB biometric registration kit machine until his money is paid.

Meanwhile the NRB officer has disappeared and police have launched a manhunt.
