11 Arrested for Illegal Roadblocks in Karonga

Police in Karonga have arrested 11 people for allegedly mounting illegal roadblocks along Karonga-Chitipa and Karonga-Mzuzu M1 roads respectively.

According to Sub Inspector Enock Livasoni, PRO for Karonga Police Station, the 11 suspects were blocking roads and demanding money from road users over blood sucking rumours.

“The 11 were immediately arrested and charged with the offence of intentionally endangering safety of persons travelling by road contrary to Section 237of the Penal Code.All suspects are expected to appear before the court of law soon.” Said Sub Inspector Enock Livasoni

He further warned that police, however, will not spare anyone found blocking roads or mounting roadblocks as it is against the law.
