Police Seek Relatives of a Lilongwe Flood Victim Whose Body was Found in Shrubs

Police in Lilongwe are looking for relatives to one of the recent Lilongwe flood victims whose body was swept by running waters and deposited in shrubs.

The name of the victim has been identified as Louis Mbizi who was a teacher by profession and was staying around Chipasula in the capital of Malawi, Lilongwe.

Nearby friends who were close to him have also reported that the victim had been telling them he was from northern part of Malawi, Mzimba.

The floods that occurred on Saturday around 6:30 pm claimed the lives of six people while over 1000 people with 202 households were left homeless after their homes were swept away.

The affected areas were that of, Kawale, Mchesi, Chipasula, Kaliyeka, Area 22 and Area 24.

The Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima visited the affected areas Sunday morning to assess the situation and made a symbolic relief distribution to the flood victims.

Meanwhile, the body of Louis Mbizi is currently at Kamuzu Central Hospital mortuary.
