Mchinji Elderly Man Hangs Himself for Being Denied Conjugal Rights by Wife, Leaves a Suicide Note

82-year-old man Mchinji has committed suicide by hanging after being tired by his wife`s resistance to grant him conjugal rights.

Mchinji police spokesperson Kaitano Lubrino, has identified the deceased man as Benson Feremu Mphepo who hailed from Kachipanda village, T/A Mabvere, in Mchinji.

In his suicidal note that was found in his pocket, the deceased explained that he hanged himself due to his wife`s bahaviour of denying him to sleep as husband and wife. The note also states that he was extremely angry by the mysterious missing of K2 million from his house.

The incident is reportedly to have happened during the night of 12th and 13th February, as reported by his bereaved wife to Mchinji police.

She said during that time, the deceased woke up without her knowledge to commit the suicide.

Later in the morning, the wife found him hanging dead from one of the shelters around their compound in Robert 2 village, T/A Zulu.

A postmortem done at Mchinji District Hospital revealed that the death was due to suffocation and strangulation caused by the hanging.
