Callista shuns Bingu’s memorial service

Former first lady Callista Mutharika on Sunday shunned the memorial service of her departed husband Bingu wa Mutharika at Chingazi Catholic Parish in Thyolo.

The development came barely hours after Callista attacked the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika describing him as an old man who is not feet to represent the Party in the forthcoming tripartite election.

According to inside sources, Callista received a call from family members that the memorial service has been cancelled hence her absence.

President Peter Mutharika and the country’s first lady Gertrude Mutharika, Cabinet Ministers attended the memorial service.

Bingu died of Cardiac arrest on April 5, 2012.
