Former President Dr. Joyce Banda will hold its first ever public rally at Malosa in Zomba on Sunday, faceofmalawi can reveal.
Banda spokesperson Andekuche David Chanthunya disclosed this in an interview with Capital FM radio on Monday.
According to Chanthunya, Banda will arrive in the country from self-imposed exile on Saturday through Chileka International Airport around 12 o’clock, midday.
“Former President of the Republic of Malawi and President of the People’s Party (PP), Her Excellency Dr. Joyce Banda will be returning to Malawi on Saturday, April 28, 2018 after her successful official engagements in the United States of America (USA), South America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa, among others,” read in part the statement.
Banda left the country just after the May 20, 2014 tripartite election which saw the then opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika emerging victorious
Her departure attracted mixed reactions with many accusing her of running away from Cashgate scandal.
