Nurse found with case to answer for allegedly raping a pregnant woman in labour ward

Court in Mulanje has found a male nurse with a case to answer on allegation that he raped a pregnant woman to induce labour.

The nurse identified as Arthur Chiukira raped a woman at Chinyama health Centre in Mulanje two months ago.

When faceofmalawi published the article friends and relatives of the suspect ordered this publication to take off the article, accusing the victim of making false allegations.

The relatives went further accusing the suspect of being mentally challenged.

However, first grade magistrate court in Mulanje has ruled that Chiukira has a case to answer.

Magistrate Smart Maruwasa made the ruling on Tuesday after hearing from both sides.

Chiukira is current on bail.
