DPP Denies Masterminding Kalindo’s Vehicle Attack

The ruling democratic progressive party (DPP) has denied claims that its cadets were involved in petrol-bombing the vehicle belonging to the legislator, Hon Boniface Kalindo at his house.

Kalindo’s vehicle burnt

On Friday, some unknown men stormed the house of the legislator in Chirimba where they burnt his vehicle thereby bringing suspicious that the men were some DPP cadets who did this to silence Kalindo who has been advocating for Vice President Saulos Chilima to stand as DPP president in the next election and not the current president Muntharika.

But on Sunday, DPP released a statement which was monitored on Malawi Broadcasting Corporation dismissing claims that the barbaric act at kalindo’s residence was conducted by some DPP men.

In the statement, DPP says it does not promote violence and do not believe in violence to settle political differences.

“Political differences should be settled amicably and not by perpetrating violent acts against anyone or those who hold different views from ours. We therefore would like to distance ourselves from anyone who promotes violence in settlement of political disputes,” the statement says.

Meanwhile, DPP has called on police to investigate the matter and prosecute the perpetrators.

The incident happened a day after some DPP cadets had tried to block another DPP female parliamentarian Hon. Patricia Kaliati from entering the parliament house because she has also been in support of Chilima to run for party’s presidency in the impending election.
