Police officer killed in road accident in Dedza

A police officer is reported dead in Dedza after being hit by over speeding Toyota Salon at Mtakataka in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Dedza Police Public Relations Officer Edward Kabango confirmed of the accident in an interview with the press and identified the deceased as Sub-inspector Henry Chazemba from Mtakataka police training school.

According to Kabango, the driving of the vehicle was over speeding and he failed to control the vehicle after reaching Liwimbi near Mtatakata Trading Centre and he eventually hit the deceased.

Kabango said Chazemba sustained serious injuries and died upon arrival at Dedza District Hospital.

Chazemba hails from Nsanje district.
