Police in Mchinji have arrested a man and his wife for sexually abusing their 13-year-old daughter in search for riches.
Mchinji police spokesperson Kaitano Lubrino identified the couple as 45-year-old Francisco Andrew and Jovira Paul aged 35.
According to Lubrino, the wife and Andrew who is the step father of the victim went to a traditional doctor to seek ways to get wealth.
The witchdoctor instructed the couple to allow the husband have intercourse with his 13-year-old stepdaughter and in so doing their demands would be met.
It is reported that the intercourse was being done in presence of the wife who was helping in stretching the girl’s legs so her husband can have easy access into the teen.
The news surfaced when the teen girl revealed the ordeal to her grandmother who later reported the matter to Kamwendo Police Post.
The teen was referred to Mchinji District Hospital for a test that revealed positive hence the couple’s arrest.
The woman is expected to be charged with a case of aiding while the man will answer a case of defilement.
The suspects Francisco Andrew (45) and his wife Jovira Paul hail from Mchekeni village Traditional Authority Mlonyeni in Mchinji.
