Woman Nabbed after Dumping New Born Baby in Toilet

Police in Chikwawa have arrested a woman for dumping her baby in toilet after giving birth.

The mother of the baby has been identified as Selina Joseph who dumped the infant right after giving birth yesterday.

According to reports, passerby heard the cry of a baby from a certain toilet and that prompted them to demolish the pit latrine and later they found the baby alive.

They tried to investigate who could have been the mother of the baby until they noticed that Selina had signs showing pregnancy but she was no longer having it at that time.

She was called, and after quizzing her with questions she accepted saying it was the work of the devil that motivated her to do all that.

Meanwhile, the baby has been referred to Chikwawa District Hospital for treatment while the mother is in hands of police.

Selina hails from Migano village in Chikwawa district.
