A Malawi police officer was reportedly beaten by unknown people after getting heavily drunk at one bottle store in Salima.
According to reports reaching this publication, the incident occurred yesterday around 10pm around Salima trading centre.
Reports claim that despite being in the uniform, Sergeant Armstrom Lewis No A6118 was at that time off duty. While in the midst of having a good time at the bottle store, he picked up a quarrel with fellow drunkards and got into a fight.
Reports claim he was heavily assaulted and sustained deep cut on the right eye as well as on right thumb and was taken to Salima District Hospital where he was treated as an outpatient.
Meanwhile, police in the district are looking for the unknown culprits to face the charge of unlawful wounding.
