Atupele denies being Mutharika’s runningmate, says he is UDF torchbearer

United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi has denied entering into political alliance with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ahead of the much awaited 2019 tripartite election.

Muluzi who is also Minister of Health and Population under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika said this during a rally head at area 25 in the capital Lilongwe.

The young Muluzi said he is not a runningmate of President Mutharika as alleged by some quarters but a Presidential candidate for the UDF.

“We have not arrived at a stage where can tell people about the possible alliance. I am not aware of such discussions.

“What I know is that i was elected at leader of UDF party,” said Muluzi.

Muluzi said that his concentration is now on rebuilding the party starting from the grassroots ahead of the 2019 polls.

He also urged Malawians to register and vote.
