Kasungu Mayor set to join UTM

Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that Mayor for Kasungu Irene Katola has dumped the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and is set to join the United Transformation Movement (UTM) led by the State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima.

Katola was elected as Mayor for Kasungu municipality on Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ticket before dumping party for the ruling DPP.

According to information at hand, Katola will be unveiled at the rally scheduled to be held in Mangochi on August 19.

Effort to speak to UTM Spokesperson Joseph Chidanti Malunga on the matter proved futile.

UTM has taken the country by storm with many people especially MPs from other political parties such as PP and DPP defecting to the movement.

The latest to defect to the movement being Member of Parliament for Mzimba North Agness Nyalonje, Member for Parliament for Mzuzu City Leonard Njikho and others.
