UTM member Manice Abiti William Dawood arrested at KIA

United Transformation Movement (UTM) member Manice Hale, popularly known as Manice Abiti William Dawood has been arrested at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in the capital Lilongwe where she was about to board a flight.

One of the human right activists, Billy Mayaya confirmed of the arrest in a facebook post seen by faceofmalawi reporter.

“Abiti Manice Dawood UTM supporter who is related to Peter Mutharika has been turned away from the airport when she was about to fly back home to the US and taken to Area 30!! Free her now! No to political violence against women,” wrote Mayaya.

According to Mayaya, the police searched digital devices such as phones and laptops for information related to UTM.

“Her phones and cellphone are being searched electronically WITHOUT A SEARCH WARRANT,” added Mayaya.

Manice, a nurse by professional last week told Times Tv that she has dumped the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) after seeing that President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika who is her uncle is failing to fulfill promises he made to Malawians.
