Yoneco Reaches over 100 Young people with Drug and Substance Abuse

This week, YONECO, through its Sports for Change Initiative, has reached out to 100 young people with drug and substance abuse sessions in Lilongwe City.

The sessions centred on building life skills among young people to resist negative peer pressure. The sessions also highlighted the mental health and physical dangers of abusing drugs and substances.

The turn up of young people in the sessions was very impressive so much that many more sessions have been lined up in city. YONECO Project Officer in Lilongwe, Khumbo Msiska, stated that young people in the city are vulnerable to a number delinquent behaviors hence the need to constantly reach out to them with education and awareness sessions on such issues.

“The third phase of Voter Registration Exercise for the forthcoming Tripartite Elections has also targeted Lilongwe. As such, we thought it wise to use the platform in order to encourage the youth who are above the age of 18 to register and be able to exercise their voting rights in 2018 Tripartite Elections,” said Khumbo Msiska.
