Chilima endorses CSOs demonstrations against DPP

United Transformation Movement (UTM) leader Dr. Saulos Chilima who is also the country’s Vice President has endorsed the planned demonstrations by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) against the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) scheduled for September 21, 2018.

Chilima made the endorsement on Saturday during a rally held at Gymkhana Club in the eastern district of Zomba.

In his speech, Chilima urged the CSOs in the country led by Timothy Mtambo to go ahead with the planned demonstrations.

“Let me openly endorse the demonstrations organized by CSOs. Go ahead with the demonstrations, we will join you. Don’t be afraid of anyone,” said Chilima while attracting ululations from the people gathered at the rally.

Chilima then urged Malawians to stop intimidating each other and condemned attacks against human rights activists in the country.
