Chilima to seek court redress over UTM’s rejection by registrar of political parties

The United Transformation Movement (UTM) has said it will be seeking court redress after the registrar of political parties rejected its application for recognition as a political party.

According to the Registrar of Political Parties, the political grouping could not be registered on account it provided the office with misleading information with an ill-motive.

In a statement issued Wednesday signed by UTM spokesperson Joseph Chidanti Malunga said it has instructed its lawyers to appeal against the determination in the High Court as the movement disagrees with reasons given.

“We obviously vehemently disagree with the determination of the Registrar of the Political parties for a number of reasons,” reads part the statement.
