Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that the Malawi Revenue Authority has impounded 47 vehicles suspected to have been smuggled into the country.
This has been disclosed in a statement posted on MRA’s official facebook page seen by FOM’s reporter.
According to MRA, most of the impounded vehicles are Toyota Fortuners owned by car rentals in the country.
“We’ve seized 47 motor vehicles, mostly Toyota Fortuners owned by car rentals, which were smuggled into #Malawi and fraudulently registered at the Directorate of Road Traffic and Safety Services,” reads in part the statement.
The exercise has helped the state owned company to recover revenue exceeding K488 million.
