Truck driver on the run after selling 600 bags of fertilizer

Police in Ntcheu district are hunting for a truck driver for allegedly selling 600 bags of NPK Fertilizer valued at K30 million.

The fertilizer was destined to be offloaded at Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi in Lilongwe from Nacala in Mozambique on October 19, this year.

Ntcheu Police Station Spokesperson Hastings Chigalu confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the truck driver as Emmanuel Chidovo.

According to Chigalu, the fertilizer is alleged to have been sold it in Ntcheu where he also dumped the truck before vanishing.

He said the abandoned truck was found by communities who later reported the issue to police.

Meanwhile the whereabouts of the truck driver is not known at the moment.
