Business man arrested for beating up Water Board official in Zomba

A business man has been arrested in Zomba for beating up a Southern Region Water Board meter reader.

Southern Region Water Board Public Relations Officer Ritta Makwangwala confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the victim as Andrew Selemani.

According to Makwangwala, the victim was on a routine water disconnection campaign for unpaid water bills when he was attacked by the suspect Intias Mussa.

She said the suspect hit the victim on the head and he collapsed on the spot.

Makwangwala said the customer had a 17 thousand kwacha unsettled bill.

Meanwhile the victim is receiving treatment at Zomba Central Hospital
