Government asked to promote SME’s

By Robert Kumwenda

As the country is facing challenge of high unemployment rate especially among the youth government has been asked to promote Small Medium Enterprises (SME’s).

Donex Zimbulani owner of Donz Engineering said SME’s are helping a lot because they employ more people and government collect substantial amount of money from the SME’s which they use in various development projects for the country.

“ SME’s are the engine for development not only here in Malawi but across the World, without SME’s there can be no business and government can suffer because it can spend a lot of money by importing things from outside,” he said.

SME’s also reduces poverty in the sense that the people they employ also help others who relies on them that way poverty is reduced.

It is reported that SME’s contribute to over ninety percent of informal sector labor force in the country.
