Nurse suspended over labour ward selfie showing a pregnant woman about to give birth

A Midwifery nurse at Ndirande Health Centre has been suspended by government for allegedly taking a selfie in labour ward where a pregnant woman was about to give birth.

The nurse has been identified as Patricia Malichi from Ndirande Health Centre.

Director of Health Service in Blantyre District Dr. Gift Kawaladzi has confirmed of the development in an interview with one of the local radio stations in the country.

“We have suspended her pending further review of the case by Nurses and Midwifery Council of Malawi,” Kawaladzi was quoted as saying.

The selfie photo which is now selling like hot cakes on the social media has attracted mixed reactions with many accusing the government of employing immature nurses.

Meanwhile Malichi has defended herself saying the photo was leaked by her ex-lover.
