Young Man on the Run after Killing his Step Mother in Lilongwe

A young man is currently on the run after hacking to death his stepmother in Lilongwe while she was asleep.

The incident occurred at Ngomani village in Lilongwe.

Kanengo police spokesperson Esther Mkwanda has identified the suspect as Kondwani Gomba and the deceased woman as Rhodha Jolamu, 26.

Reports say 2 years ago, the deceased got married to Kondwani’s father and they have a four months old baby together.

Recently, Kondwani who lives in Mozambique paid the family a visit. On the night of Monday, 29^th October when his father was away, he took a hoe and entered his father’s bedroom and hit his stepmother to death while she was asleep.

Surrounding people came to the scene after they heard the four months old baby crying but that was after the suspect had escaped from the scene.

The deceased was taken to Kamuzu Central Hospital where a postmortem revealed she died due to severe head injuries.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt against Kondwani Gomba.
