ZAMBIA – An 18 year old girl identified as Precious Kaunda of Samfya District in Luapula Province in Zambia has died after she was attacked by a crocodile while swimming on Lake Bangweulu around 17:00hrs.
Upon learning about the development, police officers and officers from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife undertook a search and spotted the crocodile near Yachi Guest house, located on the shores of the lake.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has confirmed the development to local media in a Statement and said the spotted crocodile was shot at on the head by an alert officer from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife.
Katongo said the officers retrieved the body of the victim and was found with a crushed left leg and deep cuts on the right thigh.
She said the body of the deceased has since been deposited in Samfya Hospital mortuary.
